We stayed at Middlewood Farm Campsite at Fylingthorpe, a little village below the moors and just in land from Robin Hoods Bay. Its a nice open campsite with open space and clean facilities. Not that we actually used them much!
Friday afternoon was a very slippy walk into Robin Hoods Bay down a very wet rack and through woods. There was a very steep bit just as we arrived at the village. We had a wander round, hoping to find art galleries and a nice tea shop but many places were closed. We has afternoon tea at the NT visitors centre with nice cake. On the way back and facing a very wet Saturday, we decided we didn’t need to come again, so made a plan to drive to Whitby, to test our ability to pack up and go somewhere in the van. First was dinner at Fylingthorpe Inn which was very nice.
Saturday we drove to Whitby, paked up on West Cliff quite easily and walked round town. It was nice and not too wet. We had F&C where we found Gluten Free battered fish – Hadleys then drove home. It was very wet now.
On the first night there was an alarming rattle from a roof vent, which I had wedged with a screwdriver. (later a proper repair was engineered) I forgot to take the screwdriver out on our journey home but it survived. The journey home was in nice sunny weather but I had trouble with the clutch. Billy has now had two garage trips and a replacement clutch master cylinder.
